Here are a few pictures of what I've done to the car so far.

The day I brought it home


The lovely engine bay


This is what i'm swapping in, without all the rust of course. The 350

After some mock up she fits, but it sure is tight


Cut the trans tunnel to fit the turbo 350


I'm trying to get the tunnel shape back to stock looking, just a bit wider

There was rust like this on both sides, so I had to cut it out and fix it


Would never know now


The car had undercoating on it before so why change now (don't mind the ugly mock up trans mount)

After sanding down and fixing all the rust in the bay, it wasn't that bad


I'm very proud of this, this is factory code color from a rattle can. I think it turned out great, no runs


Repainted everything else with a fresh coat of black

This is where the car stands now


I've got the short block done, just need new heads. The trans is ready to be built, then I can finish the tunnel. Need to locate a rear end and fit that in, so I can finally put these on

Thank you! I've noticed that we both had to repair some of the same areas, especially where the fenders bolt to the bay.

Nice job YG, good results with the spray paint. That 350 was pretty rough looking, what kind of rebuild (stock or modified) you doing? I like to see your keeping it all Buick.

Thank you. Yea it was pretty rough, but it wasn't locked up and cleaned up well. I'm keeping the motor relatively tame, bored 30 over and i'll put a decent came in it. As far as the car i'm planning on keeping it as close to stock as possible, other than the drive line change. It should fool everyone except for the Buick guys of course.

You put factory labels/decals on it and your right---no one will know. Most other brand Xr's especially Cheby guys don't even know what a Buick looks like......lol

I plan on doing that. Well hopefully those guys will know what our tail lights look like. lol

What did you have to modify with the steering to get the SBC in there?

It's been a long time, but I'm FINALLY getting ready to put the whole new drive line in the car. Won't be long now before I can drive her again

Young gun any pics of the motor mount changes and like Flat-Foot asked steering mods?

No changes to the steering at all, just have to use a 340 oil pan since steering is in the back. I forgot to take pics of the motor mount changes, but the cross member mounts were cut down and moved back a 1/4 inch I believe. I also made solid motor mounts to be safe since everything is so close
