1961 Buick Special Spindle Nut

So the brakes locked up on me so i was going to rebuild the cylinders and repack the bearings, The problem i had was one of the spindle nuts was strip so bad that its not reuseable. Does anyone know where i get a new spindle nut? I have searched everywhere, the problem is i think the bolt was special for the 61 and is a 5/8 24 nut. I have emailed McMASTER.com to see if they even have a regular nut that size.

Can you post a pic of this spindle nut? Might help us help you. Is it a castle nut? Sorry been along while since I've had the wheels off the car.

This is what it looks like and i think it maybe a LH threaded like the lug nuts.

Ok so it is a castle nut - did you check with Dorman?  They usually have all kinds of "replacement" hardware.  Some of the more difficult stuff to find; you could probably email or reach out to their customer service.  Bet you'd find what you're after there.

I just sent them a message, the other place I emailed had never heard of that size before, but they did a regular bolt that size for like $20.

No luck with Dorman, Checking a few other places and will give him text.

I wonder if there is spindle from another car that would fit so i can just replace the spindle.

I'm sure Troy probably has the spindle too - he scrounged up three different parts cars for his build IIRC.

Your welcome- I've actually never met or spoken to Troy but he's been here since almost the beginning so fig'd he'd be worth the shot. Funny thing is I think he is rather local to me lol.
