Re: 1962 Red Skylark Convertible
I think the best part for me is the cleaning of the parts, don't ask me why??? May be its at my level of confidence LOL. There is something about sandblasting and painting things to look new again that appeals to me.
What is the plan for the car...back to original or modified?

Plan A is to keep as original as possible. Plan B is Plan A and Plan C is uh-oh, better modify!

I found a little village in mine when I took it apart.LOL
That heater control valve I hope is working otherwise very pricey to repair or buy new one. I just bypassed mine as I hear that the coolant works on the rubber that's in them.

The screw heads holding the trim were stripped out. I haven't bothered trying to mess with them since I discovered that. I plan on removing the quarter windows also. I will probably do that first and then work on the trim.

Good luck on finding that boot, if its anything like the rest of the stuff for these cars TOUGH TO FIND!
Looks like you have some of the same issues I had on my Skylark, they drained the water between the panels from the cowl down to the rockers ?? Amazing what that lacquer paint can hide...have fun stripping!

If you need a new dash/ engine harness M&H has one for you, maybe. I have a 62 Cutlass and my harness had been butchered. They were not too busy at the time and they made one for me from the orig prints. It should now be available in their catalog or with a phone call. Fit perfect!
Dont know if yours would be the same as mine.

Not sure. I know they have some similarities, but not sure if they are perfect matches. My dash pad has several cracks in it. Would be nice to find a new pad.

Just to be clear I’m talking about dash wiring on pad.

Thanks. I re-read your initial post. You clearly state harness and for some reason I went straight to dash pad. I definitely want to replace my cabling harness and will check it out. Did they create protective boots as well for the doors and cowl walls?

Now i miss spelled but i think you got it “....dash wiring not pad.”
As you know eng and dash harness are one piece so their harness goes from the distributor and sensors to ignition and under dash components. Not sure if your main gauge connector is the same as Olds. They cannot get the pin connector on the Olds and reused mine as well as the fuse block. They put in all new fuse holders in the fuse block. Very nice work.
As far as “boots” assuming you mean the main harness grommet in the firewall. Not when i got my harness. As for the doors not sure what you are referencing, Take a look at their website and call, they will give you good info, very knowledgeable .
There is more than one supplier that makes harnesses. I previously talked to one on east coast somewhere that would make a harness based you your orig. Mine was such bad condition that wouldn’t work for me.
Fusick may have something you can adapt. I currently have a rag crammed in my firewall passthrough hole. Thought of making something with some silicon but haven’t got around to it.
That rocker assy looks bad. You may have already done so but you or your machine shop can send that out to a rebuilder up in Northern Calif and he will make it like new. I believe everyone sends stuff to them, I know D&D does.

Borrowing the garage from a buddy, so I feel some obligation to keep it as orderly as possible.
