65-69 corvair axles
So I have a 63 cutlass (same thing, your forums are better :p ), that I will be doing the scarebird disc conversion. I'll be using the corvair hubs in front to get the 5 lug. Does anyone know if I get axles from a 65-69, if they would work?!?!? I don't want to weld/redrill the hub/drum because I was thinking if I used the corvair axles than maybe the drums would work too?!?!

uh... The corvair is swing axle/IRS... I don't think the axles would fit. I did this project and kept the 4 lug. Other than more wheel options, I saw it as a lot of work/$ for little gain.

Moser will make some new 5 lug to your axle sample. Or BCCP sells them too. Neither is cheap but I've been told welding and re-drilling is not recommended.
I think American has some nice 4 lug too. Wheel Vintiques will make a couple of their steel wheels in 4 lug and whatever backspacing you want. I got some 15" Smoothines and run them with baby moons.
Did a 4 lug disc brake Conv up front.
That being said if I did it again I'd do a 5 lug conversion and go 5 lug all the way around. Running 205 65 15 which has a good tire selection.

I hear the drilling is not recommended but then I also hear others have no problem. What are the real risks?
I'm having the front done soon so I have to find a solution and BCCP's price is around $700 bucks! Anyone use adapters? the thinnest I can find are 1.75 inches...

Re: 65-69 corvair axles
I've read the problem is the axles are hardened and the welding destroys it, so cracking and failure is the risk I guess.
I think it's certainly been done without failure, and then it's not an area that can get frequent inspection unless you're pulling the drums regular. Kind of a critical area.
Talk to an axle guy.
Moser's rears are about what BCCP charges for the rears, his might even be Mosers.

ok, new plan. Using 61-63 tempest axles and hubs (5x4.5), doing the scaerbird disc brake conversion. Does anyone think these rims would work? I'm desperately trying to find a solution to use our 9 1/2 caps.

Is the .5" offset an issue? I've got an email into them to see if they are ok for disc brakes.

Looked at your link. Why don't you go to https://www.wheelvintiques.com if you want steel wheels? Smoothie style at $66 primied and you can get whatever offset you want with a car wheel rather than a trailer wheel. Don't think your caps will not fit it. Primed at no additional cost or powder coated at additional cost.
Other styles up from there, don't know about your caps on those.

prolly the first wheel I've seen in my adventure but wheelvintiques only has the larger 10 1/8" cap size. Wont work with our 9 1/2" caps.

Yeah, I meant to say "don't think your caps will fit". Don't compromise much on the offset/backspacing though
