I think between the Olds F85/Cutlass/Jetfire and the Buick Skylark/Special a variety of wheel options were offered-13", 14", 15". Also some of Datsun's rear drive wheels of 70'-80's vintage in 14" fit the 4 lug pattern with correct backspacing. Few tires are offered anymore in 13-14" range while lots of tires and sizes are still available in the 15" size.

Tire Size
Hi,
I have 13" on my 63 and want to get bigger tires. What size tires are on 15" rims? i would like to install something that fits with no mods.
Thanks,
John

I am running 205 65x15, H rated tire. Like them, no clearance problems if you are running original brakes. Some run larger but I like the look of the 205s, still in keeping with the car but still beefy and they ride and handle well. Also like a 65 or 60 series tire as I think less than that can really effect ride quality. And lots of reasonably priced tire in this size.

Question for 62cutlassconvert,
Did you stick with 4 lugs or do any kind of conversion?

Re: size of wheels 14' or 15' Skylark
First I will say if I was to do it again I would go to 5 lug for the much, much greater choice in wheels and a better front disc brake conversion. The front disc brake conversion to 5 lug with BCCP is the same cost as a 4 lug but uses larger calipers AND you have options for other upscale calipers like alum AFCO and even Willwood if you want. The 4 lug disc brake conversion does not have the room for the superior calipers and I even had to clearance the small S10 caliper a little in order to get full pad contact with the rotor and add a wheel spacer as it was. Some conversions leave the pad hanging off the edge of the rotor which essentially diminishes an already kinda small pad contact area so Ben at BCCP worked to modify his bracket to bring the caliper in closer to the center. This ended up resulting in a slight caliper body contact with the steel wheel, maybe it would be different on a different wheel. The rear axle switch is about $700-$800 for 5 lug axles from BCCP or to have your's copied by Moser. So more cost there. I think BCCP has a rear 5 lug disc brake conversion now too that includes axles and all hardware but not sure. IMO you don't want 5 lug on one axle and 4 lug on the other so going to 5 lug once I got going would have meant a second set of wheels and rear axles costs so I opted to stick with 4 lug.
I initially went with 4 lug Wheel Vintique smoothies that I bought through Summit Racing before doing a lot of research cause I had no wheels for the car and was under pressure to get wheels and move the car. I think they were around $50ea at the time for primed wheels. And I already had them by the time I decided on a front disc brake conversion and didn't realize the limitations the 4 lug disc conversion has until I got into it. That being said I am happy with the way it all turned out and like the smoothies with baby moons. Also, since I bought the the wheels, I have seen on this site and I think the oldsjetfire site too, various 4 lug alloy wheels that are really nice with pricing from about $80 to $250 each.
So 4 lug at less cost, 5 lug for more options.
