Meltdown drags? Woodward?

Meltdown drags? Woodward?
Do any folks on here go to either the meltdown drags or the woodward dream cruise? I went to both last year and plan to again this year. For those of you unfamiliar with the meltdown drags, it is held on a real dragstrip and features classic cars of all makes/models. It is a really good time, and happens to be about 10 miles from my house. I think Woodward is pretty self explanatory by now. Last year was my first year there and all I can say is that I was floored by the variety and quality of cars there.

Even without a car both events are a lot of fun. I didn't have mine for either event last year. The meltdown drags have a car show, swap meet, and the drag event itself. That is a lot closer for you than Woodward (It is in Byron, IL).

I live in southeast Michigan, so I'm able to get to Woodward for multiple days/nights every year. The entire week leading up to the Saturday event is awesome.
Last year on the Thursday before the event, I parked on the northbound side of Woodward with a couple of buddies ('69 Camaro and a '55 Ford pickup). About 2 weeks later, I'm reading an online article in Automobile magazine about the top 10 reasons Woodward is better than Pebble Beach. As I scroll down the article (at number 9), the article has a fantastic picture of my car right in front of the store that the article is talking about! [see link]

I've gone every year, and am looking forward to going again this year. My friend Ryan actually started that whole thing, he drives the abomination Henry J, so I remember when there were only 180 cars or so. It is going to be huge this year. I'm hoping to run one of these years.
We actually plan on racing each other, he thinks the little Buick is just a slow grocery getter.

I think I know that Henry J! At least I've seen it. Although I've never spoken to the owner.
I usually park in Pontiac and take 2-3 loops as far south as 13 Mile. My car club has a spot there, on the southbound side, just beore Wide Track merges back together as Woodward.

I was planning on it but we had to move our yellowstone vacation back and now I may not be able to. We had a great time last year. I am still planning on woodward though.
