New to Y bodies

Post by Premier 350 on Wed Apr 04, 2018 7:51 pm

G'day, Chris here, while I'm new to the Y bodies, there's been Impalas & Bel Airs in my past, and the current toy is a '69 Skylark. You won't find many others here in Australia.
I'm toying with buying a '62 Skylark convertible, which is why I'm here.

Cheers,
Chris

Looks almost identical to my car. Same color even. I just completed a complete restoration on mine. They did come with V6 engines. Besides what the other guy said about rust / bondo. Check the lower rear corners under bumper area. That was the worst on mine. I would make sure the door jams dont have rust in them also. Floors of coarse. The 2 pcs driveshaft you can get parts for. I re did my seats and door panels, was not difficult. Make sure the convertible top frame isn't bent and your able to move it. VERY expensive to repair or replace. You can buy new hyd motors and hose that. Not sure what that price in US dollars means. Outside chrome trim is almost impossible to find. Engine parts no a big deal.
