63 convertible in Germany, Munich area

Post by woldoering on Tue Feb 10, 2015 2:11 pm

I bought my car 6 years ago from the first owner who lived in Switzerland. GM had an assembling plant there in the 60s. Cars came in preassembled from the US and have been finished in Switzerland to prevent high taxes and duty for the European market. So my car is made in Switzerland :-)
It is a real challenge to keep it running on this side of the big puddle. Thanks to ebay, paypal and me or friends traveling to the US from time to time I can get some parts from here an there. But e. g. I am missing a spare tire and I have not managed to get a rim shiped to Germany for a decent rate. So I keep praying...
However it is fun to cruise in the alps where the 215 is powerful enough, whereas the drum brakes demand humility.
I am a frequent reader of the "old" forum where I often have found valuable inforamtion and advice. This platform is much easier to use and I hope it finds acceptance and can replace the old one.
Best regards
Wolfgang

Welcome Wolfgang....A Swiss made Buick? who would of thought, learn something new everyday. Good luck on your search, its tough enough finding stuff when you live here. Like Keith said just ask, someone may be able to help out.

Thank you for your welcome.
Keith, with your 4 hub caps and mine I was able to assemble 4 nice ones.
By the way: When I had to pay customs (I allways have to drive to the airport to pick up parcels from the US) the guy was suspicious because he thought 50.-US$ you wrote on the declaration was to low so I had to open the parcel. Luckily the worst one was right on top so he immediately believed it.
It' all about networking, isn't it?
