Exhaust Under-Car Photos?
Does anybody have an under-car photo of a Skylark/Special/F85 showing the stock exhaust routing (particularly in the area of the muffler)? I'm sitting on a custom system that Waldron made for me which includes a Jetfire-style muffler with single inlet and dual outlets, but the muffler case seems too wide in the cross-car direction to fit.
After a quick search, I was unable to find any photos showing this area.
Thanks in advance -

Re: Exhaust Under-Car Photos?
I dont know if it can help you, but i put a picture from my chassis manual.
The muffler is originally parralel to the rear axle.
However, I got a glasspack on mine just beside the drive shaft.
Its a snug fit but it works. I put a 90 degree piece of pipe right after
and an exhaust tip just in front of the rear wheel.

That's actually quite helpful. It shows that the muffler is offset towards the passenger side in the transverse direction, and the stock pass side mount location is essentially at the end of the muffler case. That tells me that the outlet of the muffler case is pretty much below the frame rail on the passenger side.
Re: Exhaust Under-Car Photos?
With the Waldron Jetfire muffler, you have to get it over to the passenger side as far as you can and still get the passenger exhaust past the tire. The dual outlets go horizontal, in line with the inlet, just under the frame rail.
I have found that if you have the 2" Jetfire over-axle pipe, it needs a little "massaging" to get it close to the suspension with out rubbing. I have had to heat it red hot with a torch, then dimple with a hammer and large socket to clear the suspension.

Here is the interference on the over-axle pipe. It's at the spring pocket and you can see the dimple I made. Also cut the inlet pipe into the muffler shorter to make it all fit. (1963 Jetfire, but the same):

Those are some great explanations and photos above. They will really help me during my install. Thanks!
Re: Exhaust Under-Car Photos?
Tim, I don't know if you have already completed the exhaust, but at least the info is here for anyone else. I read that you have the stock 1-1/2" pipe going into a custom Jetfire muffer with dual outlets, should be a better fit. That will be a great look and sound. Here is a photo of the muffler location in relation to the gas tank on my 62 Jetfire. I don't know what your doing for exhaust tips but the other photos show the stock Jetfire exhaust tips that look killer. You can make these or Jim Noel on Jetfire.com reproduces these in stainless:
